Libarna
This is a small hamlet near Serravalle Scrivia which has a surprising archaeological area housing the remains of an ancient Roman town – you can still see the amphitheatre, the theatre, two residential quarters and some urban streets. The mosaic work in the triclinium is truly worth mentioning, and you can admire this in one of the domus, testimony to the excellent finish of the homes.

The pathways of taste
In the Curone, Grue and Ossona valleys, the production of black and white truffle is extremely important internationally and it adds a strong flavour to the local cuisine. The food and wine trails also offer a wide range of tasty cheeses, cooked and cured meats, fine wine and sweets, including the baci di dama (hazelnut biscuits with a creamy chocolate hazelnut filling) from Tortona, chocolate amaretti biscuits and nougat, and of course the characteristic half-moon Krumiri biscuits from Casale Monferrato.

The painted palazzos of Novi Ligure
Just a few minutes from the Outlet is the city of chocolate, of road cycling champions and their famous museum and, last but certainly not least, of painted palazzos. These delightful residences used to belong to the Genoese nobility and decorate the city centre as if they were paintings, offering citizens and visitors refined optical illusions and imagery. We must also mention the two meridians that first and foremost measure the historical time of the period: indeed, the one on the left is based on the calendar introduced by the French revolution.

The fortress of Gavi
One thousand years of history are imprinted in the rock of this city, just ten minutes from Serravalle. The fortress survived innumerable battles and has always remained impregnable, looking over the invaders from its 180-metre height. Now, you can look out from those same bastions to admire the medieval architecture of Gavi, the rolling hillsides of grapevines, and the Apennines, with Mount Tobbio towering above all.

Genoa and the Cinque Terre
Listed as a “World Heritage Site”
This corner of Liguria has never lost its charm: picturesque, cosy and international all at the same time. Genoa is, and always will be, the capital of the sea, with its large harbour and famous aquarium. Portofino is the gem of this province – so wonderful that the cream of international high society docks in its small harbour. Instead, the harsh coastline of the Cinque Terre is harmoniously soothed by the crop terraces, giving rise to a series of breathtaking views from inside the UNESCO-listed world heritage site.
